CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT SERIES OPENS 19TH SEASON SATURDAY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!

(Placentia, CA, February 21, 2012)
After a resurgent 2011, the California Lightning Sprint Car
Series will open it's 19th season this Saturday night, February 25th, at the Sokola Shootout at Perris Auto Speedway. Joining the CLS on the three division card will be the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and the PAS Senior Sprints. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first race will be at 7:00.

The 2012 season will see 17 different nights of action at four different tracks for the CLS. Eleven of the dates will be at the series longtime home track, Perris Auto Speedway. Bakersfield Speedway will have four of the races while Santa Maria Speedway and the Ventura Raceway will each host one.

In addition to the Sokola Shootout, other big dates at The PAS include March 10th with the World of Outlaws at the "NAPA Know How SoCal Showdown," May 26th "Salute to Indy, the July 4th Independence Day Celebration, July 28th "California Racers Hall of Fame Night," September 15th "Glenn Howard Memorial" and the "17th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals" on November 2nd and 3rd. With the exception of the World of Outlaws show, all of the shows at The PAS will also include the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and The PAS Senior Sprints.

Under the watchful eyes of Dan Hillberg, Bobby Michnowicz and Tobey Sampson, who took over the series after the 2010 season, car counts and corporate sponsorships both grew in 2011. That growth is expected to continue in 2012 and tracks can expect the largest CLS car counts in years. Several new teams are poised to begin racing when the new season takes the green flag.

Along with the infusion of the new teams, many of the series favorites will be back on the track in 2012 including defending champion Tim Brown of Wildomar, 2010 title holder Jarrett Kramer of Spring Valley, the Lomita father & son team of Bobby & Kevin Michnowicz, Hemet teenager Alexander Bissett, last season's Rookie of the Year Stephen Limon of Corona, Guy Maresch of Anaheim Hills, brothers Dan & Darren Hillberg of Palcentia and Corona respectively, long time veterans Paul Krueger of Buena Park & Imperial Beach's Dan Lancaster and many more.

The California Lightning Sprint Car Series would like to thank 2012 series sponsors Christian Stover Foundation, Rod End Supply, Sander Engineering, Saldana Race Products, DK Machining and Fabrication, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Hoosier Racing Tires, Circle Track Performance, DJ Safety, Performance by Rosson Racing, Racing Optics, Electro Tech Powder Coating and Oil Twins Amsoil (Hard Charger Award at The PAS).
