The California Lightning Sprints (CLS) are a Southern California based 1200cc Mini-Sprint club. The group competes in both winged and non-winged events in California. Reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph, the cars of the CLS may be small in size, but they are big on excitement!!!

  • MICHNOWICZ WINS CLS VENTURA FAIR RACE FOR 2ND YEAR IN A ROW!
    (Torrance, CA, August 8, 2017) Last Wednesday night, for the second year in a row, four-time California Lightning Sprint Car Series Champion Bobby Michnowicz won the main event at the Ventura County Fair race. The victory was the fourth of the year for the Lomita based veteran and it propelled him to third in the 2017 CLS championship standings.....more  
     

  • CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINTS AT VENTURA COUNTY FAIR AUGUST 2ND!
    (Torrance, CA, July 26, 2017) The USAC/California Lightning Sprint Car Series will be making one it’s most popular stops of the year at the Ventura Raceway on opening night of the annual Ventura County Fair on Wednesday night August 2nd. The first green flag of the night will wave at 6:00 PM.....more
     

  • STRETCH RUN FOR CLS
    (Torrance, CA, July 14, 2017) As the California Lightning Sprints start there final third of the season numerous big events are on the schedule.  With 7 events left CLS resumes with the Ventura Fair race on Aug 2nd which pays $700 to win and $75 to start. The top three in points, Jarrett Kramer, Aiden Lange and Cody Nigh are separated by only 87 points and the top 5 by only 250, with a total of 148 points available at each event, the championship is still anybodys.....more

  • CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS AT VENTURA SATURDAY!
    (Torrance, CA, July 6, 2017) The California Lightning/USAC Sprint Car Series returns to its home track, the Ventura Raceway, this Saturday night, July 8th. Joining the CLS on the ocean side dirt track will be the USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series, Dwarf Cars and the 600’s. Gates will open at 3:00 PM with racing at 5:30.........more
     

  • DICKEY WINS SECOND CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT MAIN OF 2017 AT SANTA MARIA!
    (Torrance, CA, June 29, 2017) Chris “Crash” Dickey, who will soon be moving back to his native Indiana, became only the third California Lightning Sprint Car repeat main event winner of 2017 when he bested the field at the Santa Maria Raceway last Saturday night.     (Torrance, CA, June 21, 2017) Charlie Caraccilo bounced back from a big disappointment two weeks prior at the Ventura Raceway to win the California Lightning Sprint Car Series/USAC main event last Saturday night at the Bakersfield Speedway.     The 2017 California Lightning Sprint Car/USAC Series will hit its halfway point when the troupe journeys to the Bakersfield Speedway for the third time this Saturday night, June 17th. Joining the CLS on the program will be the Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks, Mini Stocks and Mini Dwarfs. Spectator gates will open at 4:00 PM and the first race will be at 6:00..........more

  • MICHNOWICZ BETTER TO BE LUCKY THAN GOOD LAST WEEK AT PERRIS – VENTURA THIS SATURDAY!
    (Torrance, CA, May 31, 2017) The old racing adage of “It is better to be lucky than good” certainly reflected on Bobby Michnowicz when the California Lightning Sprint Car Series made its first 2017 appearance at Perris Auto Speedway last Saturday night. The four-time series champion appeared to be mired in second until a break with a little more than a lap to go handed him a win in the 20-lap main event.     (Torrance, CA, May 23, 2017) The California Lightning Sprint Car Series will make its first of two 2017 appearances at the “Southern California Home of Major League Sprint Car Racing,” Perris Auto Speedway, this Saturday night for the annual “Salute to Indy.” The USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and The PAS Senior and Young Gun Sprints will also be on the four-division card. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first race will begin at 7:00..........more   
     

  • DICKEY AND KEEFE GET CIVIL WAR SERIES WINS!
    (Torrance, CA, May 12, 2017) When the California Lightning Sprint Car Series trekked north to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico and the Placerville Speedway for the second and third rounds of the “Civil War Series” with the BCRA last weekend, a pair of surprise winners etched their names on the CLS victory ledger. Indiana native Chris “Crash” Dickey took home the winner’s trophy on Friday at Silver Dollar and Washington’s Zach Keefe did likewise on the tiny Placerville bull ring on Saturday.........more
