The California Lightning Sprints (CLS) are a Southern California based 1200cc Mini-Sprint club. The group competes in both winged and non-winged events at the Perris, Bakersfield, Ventura, Santa Maria, Barona, El Centro, and Victorville clay ovals. Reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph, the cars of the CLS may be small in size, but they are big on excitement!!!

  • CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT SEASON HITS THE HOMESTRETCH SATURDAY AT PERRIS!
    (Torrance, CA, September 11, 2014) When the California Lightning Sprint Car Series returns to action at the Glenn Howard Classic this Saturday, September 13th, at Perris Auto Speedway, it will mark the beginning of the homestretch drive for the 2014 championship. Joining the CLS on the quadruple header program at The PAS will be the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and the PAS Young Gun & Senior Sprints. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00....(more). 
      

  • KEVIN MICHNOWICZ PASSES HIS DAD TO WIN PERRIS CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR MAIN!
    (Torrance, CA, August 20, 2014) Kevin Michnowicz had little respect for his elders including his father Bobby who he passed to win the California Lightning Sprint Car Series main event before a large crowd at the “California’s Racer’s Hall of Fame Night” last Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway. The victory was the first of the season for the part-time Lomita, California racer....(more). 
     

  • AFTER SIX WEEKS OFF CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR SERIES RETURNS TO PERRIS!
    (Torrance, CA, August 11, 2014)
    After six weeks off, the California Lightning Sprint Car Series returns to action this Saturday night, August 16th, at the “California’s Racer’s Hall of Fame Night” at Perris Auto Speedway. Joining the CLS on the quadruple header program will be the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, PAS Senior Sprint Cars and the PAS Young Gun Sprints. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 pm with racing at 7:00....(more). 
     

  • CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR SERIES HEADS NORTH FOR CIVIL WAR CHALLENGE!
    (Torrance, CA, July 30, 2014) After four weeks off, the California Lightning Sprint Car Series returns to action this Saturday night, August 2nd, when it journeys north to take on the BCRA in round #2 of the “North vs South Civil War Challenge” at Placerville Speedway. The race replaces the originally scheduled round #2 of the challenge series that was slated for the Santa Maria Speedway....(more). 
     

  • BOBBY MICHNOWICZ SWEEPS CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR SHOW JULY 4TH AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!
    (Torrance, CA, July 7, 2014)
    2012 California Lightning Sprint Car champion Bobby Michnowicz dominated the action and swept the California Light Sprint Car portion of the show setting fast qualifying time, winning his heat and his series leading fifth main event of the 2014 before a huge, festive holiday crowd at Perris Auto Speedway on July 4th. While Michnowicz won the 20-lapper by a wide margin, the gap in the championship chase continued to shrink as Damon Arnett has reduced Jeff Dyer’s lead to a mere 20 points heading into the August 2nd race in Placerville....(more). 
     

  • CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS CELEBRATING JULY 4TH AT THE PAS!
    (Torrance, CA, July 3, 2014)
    The California Lightning Sprint Car Series returns to its home track, Perris Auto Speedway., tomorrow night, July 4th, to celebrate Independence Day with a giant night of sprint car racing and a fireworks spectacular. Joining the CLS on the racing side of the program will be the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, PAS Senior Sprints and the PAS Young Gun Sprint Cars. At intermission, the City of Perris and Budweiser will present the biggest and best fireworks sky concert in Riverside County. Spectator gates will open at 4:00 PM, with racing at 7:00. The fireworks will brighten the night sky at approximately 9:00 PM.....(more). 
     

  • MICHNOWICZ SCORES FOURTH CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR WIN 0F 2014!
    (Torrance, CA, June 18, 2014)
    Lomita, California’s Bobby Michnowicz scored his series leading fourth main event win of 2014 when the California Lightning Sprint Car Series visited Perris Auto Speedway last Saturday night. The victory propelled the 2012 series champ from fifth to third in the championship standings.....(more). 
     

  • THREE DRIVERS BATTLE FOR CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR ROOKIE OF THE YEAR HONORS!
    (Torrance, CA, June 10, 2014) To say the California Lightning Sprint Car Series has been graced by a great crop of rookies in the 2014 season is a massive understatement. Three rookies, Corey Hoover, Cori Andrews and Jeremey Queener, are locked into a tight battle for the Rookie of the Year award and they will next square off on the track this Saturday night, June 14th, at the series home track, Perris Auto Speedway. The USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, and PAS Senior & Young Gun Sprints will also be appearing on the quadruple header program. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first race will be at 7:00.....(more).
